Description:
Espacios de Poder / Claiming Space empowers youth in immigration, housing, and legal leadership. CAB supports young people through programs like ALCANCE, providing skills, mentoring, and job readiness, and through the Youth Homeless Response Team and TAY Navigation, offering housing and resource support. Our Immigration Project assists immigrant youth with legal status, family unity, and citizenship pathways. Representation matters-queer youth and youth of color are needed in law. CAB provides guidance on starting a legal career. Take up space; you belong here.
About the Presenters
My name is Yajaira Lopez. I’ve worked as an immigration paralegal for a decade and am now an immigration law Fellow. Growing up in Watsonville, I feel a strong connection to my community. I’m a proud Watsonville High graduate (2007) and attended Monterey College of Law. My fellowship, supported by ChangeLawyers, IRLC, CHIRLA, and the California Department of Social Services, focuses on defending undocumented communities in California from deportation. I am honored to serve my community through this legal fellowship, with CAB as my host.
