Description: The connection between furries and queerness to shame and fear is strong. Shame is a big barrier Queer youth face. Many Queer youth live in fear of being shamed so much so that they hide themselves. This workshop is about making a fursona to combat shame and exploring your queerness throughout the way.
About the Presenters
Apollo Turner (he/they) is an intern at Our Gente, a program within the Epicenter that provides to the Queer Youth. He is passionate about helping youth, especially through art and self exploration. When he’s not working, he can be found playing Dungeons and Dragons. He uses he/they pronouns and has a lot of labels.
Angela Soto Cerros (They/Them & Ella/Elle) is the Rainbow Connections Wellness Outreach & Engagement Coordinator of The Epicenter. They are a Hispanic first-generation university graduate from CSUMB, and passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ education and LGBTQ+ youth issues. In their spare time, Angela enjoys photography, video games, cooking, exploring, and enjoying life’s small delights and beauty.
