About the Workshop
Presenter:
Eli Romero Ortigosa
Adult Led
Session: 1 & 2
Level: Intermediate
For: Both middle and high school students
Description:
In this workshop, we’ll create poems that tell our queer stories and dreams. Using writing prompts and fun activities, we’ll explore how poetry can capture who we are, where we come from, and who we want to be. We will think about our words like stars: unique, bright, and powerful when they come together. No experience needed. Just bring your voice and imagination.
About the Presenter
Hi! I’m a sophomore at Stanford interested in sociology and creative writing. I grew up in Oaxaca, Mexico, and moved to the U.S. when I was 12. As an immigrant queer student, I love using writing to share stories and new perspectives. Outside of class, you’ll probably find me hiking, reading poetry, or buying fresh flowers.
