Description: In this workshop, we will discuss the important of LGBTQIA+ representation in politics including how it is to run for office, how to run for elected office, and even without running how to be active in politics to benefit LGBTQIA+ people in other aspects.
About the Presenters
Joe Thompson (they/them) is a labor union organizer and activist. They are also a third-year UCSC student studying politics, and identify as gay and nonbinary.
Adam Spickler (they/he) is a Cabrillo College Trustee and the first Transgender man elected in California. They also work for the County of Santa Cruz and are active in the Democratic party.
