Share Your Voice: What Does Being Bisexual Mean to You?

We’re celebrating Bisexual Visibility and want to hear from YOU! If you’re a middle or high school student with thoughts, feelings, or creativity to share, this is your chance to shine!

The Safe Schools Project is dedicated to creating safer campuses for all students, including those who identify as LGBTQIA2S+. Recognizing the limited visibility of bisexual issues and concerns within schools and the broader community, we are launching a campaign to raise visibility and to provide support for bisexual students. 

Starting in 2025, we will begin showcasing your work throughout the year leading up to the Fall 2025 Queer, Trans, and Allied Student Summit of Monterey Bay in September 2025 and Bisexual visibility week, which is in October 2025. 

We also welcome interns to join us in running this campaign.

We’re Accepting Submissions For:

Articles

  1. Quotes on Being Bi
    • Submit a short and impactful quote (up to 25 words) about your experience or perspective on being bisexual.
  2. What Does Bisexuality Mean to You?
    • Write a brief essay (up to 250 words) sharing your personal understanding or experience with bisexuality.
  3. In-Depth Stories
    • Dive deeper into your journey, reflections, or story about bisexuality in an essay (300-500 words).
    • These will be featured on a special webpage and may even get published in magazines!

Creative Submissions

  • Artwork
    • Create art that represents your feelings, experiences, or ideas about bisexuality.
    • Accepted formats: Digital art, illustrations, or photos of your physical work.
  • Videos
    • Share your story or perspective through a 30-60 second video.
    • Accepted formats: MP4, MOV, or share a YouTube link.

How to Participate

  1. Eligibility: Open to middle and high school students (ages 12-18).
  2. Submission Guidelines:
    • Keep submissions original and respectful.
    • Include your preferred name, grade level, school, and a short bio (25 words max).
      1. If you prefer your work to remain anonymous, please let us know
  3. Email Submissions To: Email your submissions to (CoordinateSummit@gmail.com) with the subject line: “Bisexuality Submission – [with your preferred name]”.
  4. Submission Due Date:  All submissions are due Monday, February 3rd, at 5 PM.
