Confidentiality & Creating a Safe Space to Access Zoom

We recognize and understand that not everyone has a safe and affirming home life, and that it may be a challenge to attend this summit from where you live. Below are some tips to make your virtual summit experience safer and to help protect the confidentiality of attendees:

  • Consider using earbuds or headphones to ensure other folks in your house are not listening to what attendees are sharing out loud. Let us know if you need headphones when you register for the summit and we will make sure to include them in your goodie bag which will be delivered to you before the summit. Or email us by Friday, October 1 at Coordinate Summit.
  • If possible, join us from a room or space in your house that is in a quiet place away from other people to protect your privacy and the privacy of attendees who will be visible on your screen. We don’t want to accidently out someone by having them be seen attending the event by someone other than you.
  • Use a free virtual background on Zoom to protect the privacy of yourself and the people who live in your home (will not work on some Chromebooks).
  • Mute your microphone when you’re not speaking to limit background noise and the voices of other people who may be in your house.
