Description: October 1st-7th is Banned Books Week and this workshop will discuss the topic of banned books and how queer books seem to be in the forefront of being banned from school libraries or challenged at public libraries. The workshop will also educate folks in how they can get involved in advocating against banning books and advocating for everyone’s right to read whatever they choose.
About the Presenters
Celeste (she/her/hers) is the Teen Librarian at the Watsonville Public Library and has been with the City of Watsonville for 5 years. She was raised in Watsonville and has been an active participant in her community. She enjoys reading, painting, and hiking. On occasion, you will find Celeste reading a manga or watching her latest Korean drama. Celeste is passionate about not only educating others with topics surrounding libraries and librarianship, but in learning more about topics she may not understand herself.
