Description: Furries are, while not an entirely queer fandom, are a majority-queer space. 80% of furries are in some way queer. 12.2% of furries identify as transgender, compared to the national average of 0.6%. The fandom’s been queer since the very beginning. This workshop will cover the queer aspect of the history of the furry fandom.
About the Presenters
Byrd (he/they) is a transmasc nonbinary guy from Santa Cruz who did a yearlong research project about queer history in the furry fandom and has been a furry for roughly five years and considers himself pretty knowledgeable about the subject. Byrd likes to draw, animate, and listen to music. They enjoy concerts and love hanging out with their friends.
