About the Workshop

Presenters:

Dorian (he/they)

Youth Led

Session: Workshop Session #2 Only

Level: Intermediate

For: Both middle and high school students

Description:

A presentation will go over a brief history and explanation of fanfiction and how it connects to queerness. For many, fanfiction allows for both an exploration and expression of queerness, creating a path to queer safe spaces within a fandom. After the presentation, participants will partake in a 20 minute sprint where they will write their own fanfic. If there is time left in the session, they can share what they have written.

About the Presenters

My name is Dorian (he/they) and I'm a current a QTYC intern at the Epicenter. Writing is one of my biggest passions and I especially love it as a creative way to express myself. Many of my stories involve queer characters. As an avid reader, it is also very important to me that queer voices are heard through the stories made. I am hoping that many more writers will be inspired to make their own stories in the future.
